Our Journey
2016
Humble Beginnings
Our story began in 2016 with a vision to bring structured, high-quality home improvement products to the digital space. Starting with a small but passionate team of just 4 members, we launched 10 basic home utility products from a 200 sq. ft. warehouse. Operating under a generic brand, we explored early e-commerce trends and recognized the growing potential of online retail in India.
2017
Foundation for Growth
Encouraged by positive early customer response, we quickly scaled operations. Our team grew to 20 people, and our catalogue expanded to 400 SKUs, offering a broader variety of utility and home improvement products. We shifted into a 500 sq. ft. facility, laying the groundwork for organized digital commerce. This year was about understanding customer behavior and fine-tuning our backend processes.
2018
Birth of Plantex: A Brand with Purpose
After two years of selling generic home improvement items, we recognized a major gap in the unorganized bathroom accessories category on digital marketplaces like Amazon. We saw a fragmented market lacking branded, quality-assured options. This realization led to the birth of Plantex, a purpose-driven brand focused on standardizing and innovating bathroom fittings. We launched our first branded line of bathroom accessories and operated from a 2,000 sq. ft. facility, focusing on design consistency, quality control, and packaging excellence.
2019
Establishing a Product Powerhouse
As Plantex gained recognition in the bathroom space, we expanded rapidly:
- Introduced step ladders, which later became a flagship category
- Over 1,000 SKUs in the bathroom and basic utility category
- Moved into a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse with 40+ team members
We focused on creating a diverse product portfolio and ensuring pan-India fulfillment through e-commerce platforms
2020
Resilience During COVID-19
The pandemic tested every business, but we adapted quickly:
- Transitioned to remote work and decentralized warehousing
- Maintained consistent operations through a lean but agile supply chain
- Expanded to a 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse
Despite global disruption, we stayed focused on service, safety, and ensuring customer satisfaction during lockdowns.
2021
Diversification into Hardware & Kitchen Segments
This was a major leap year. With market confidence and operational maturity:
- We entered the hardware category with door accessories, cabinet hardware, Letter Boxes, Toolboxes and more
- Launched a range of kitchen accessories for urban homes
- Operations moved to a 45,000 sq. ft. facility, preparing us for further category expansion
Plantex became known not just for bathroom products, but for a broader range of functional, well-designed home improvement solutions.
2022
A Game-Changing Year
This was a transformative year:
- Top seller in the step ladder category, with over 40% market share
- In the broader hardware space, we achieved 30%+ market share
- GlobalBees, a unicorn backed by FirstCry and Mahindra, approached and partnered with us
This partnership gave us access to:
- Enterprise-level technology systems
- Sophisticated inventory and logistics tools
- Best-in-class customer experience playbooks
We expanded into a 60,000 sq. ft. space and achieved our highest-ever YoY growth (exact % can be added). It was the year Plantex moved from a fast-growing startup to a structured, scalable brand.
2023
Market Dominance & Bold Innovations
We cemented our position as a leader in:
- Bathroom fittings and fixtures
- Door hardware
- Step ladders
But the boldest move came with our entry into sanitary ware – especially commodes – a category traditionally dominated by offline retail due to:
- High shipping costs
- Fragility of ceramic products
- Lack of trust in digital buying for such items
Plantex became the first brand to crack sanitary ware on digital platforms. Within 6 months, we captured 50% of the market share in commodes, redefining consumer confidence in buying high-value, bulky products online
We scaled up to an 80,000 sq. ft. warehouse and became known as a pioneer in digital-first home improvement solutions.
2024
Strengthening the Core
After years of aggressive expansion, 2024 was about refinement and focus:
- Audited and optimized existing product lines
- Identified and filled key gaps in existing categories
- Expanded to additional marketplaces like Flipkart and JioMart, where we built a strong and fast-growing presence
- Focused on supply chain stability, returns reduction, and customer retention
We moved into a 100,000 sq. ft. facility, with a stronger infrastructure to support multi-channel retail and advanced fulfillment
2025
Embracing the Future: Quick Commerce
In 2025, we entered the next generation of retail with Quick Commerce platforms – serving customers within minutes through partnerships with emerging hyperlocal delivery channels.
We expanded operations to a 150,000 sq. ft. infrastructure, setting the stage for even faster delivery, more intelligent supply chains, and a hyper-convenient experience for digital consumers.

Abhishek Chauhan, The Man Behind the Mission
Every brand has a story, and ours begins with Abhishek Chauhan, the founder and CEO of Plantex.
With over 12 years of experience in e-commerce and tech, Abhishek saw a clear gap, home essentials were either stylish but overpriced, or affordable but lacking in quality.
That’s what led to Plantex. More than just a hardware or bathroom brand, Plantex is a complete home improvement solution that brings together design, durability, and value.
